CH25

CH25

CH25 is one of the first four pieces that Hans J. Wegner created exclusively for Carl Hansen & Søn at the start of the collaboration that began in 1949. The chair, considered revolutionary at the time, went into production in 1950.

CH25, like many other iconic Hans J. Wegner designs, is clean and simple in its distinctive form. But its introduction caused a stir because of Wegner's choice of back and seat materials.

Woven paper cord, a seagrass substitute developed during World War II, had not been used in furniture before. However, Wegner was enthusiastic about the material's appearance and its resistance to stretching and optimum durability, and so were generations after him.

The CH25 chair is still hugely popular and has been produced continuously since 1950 - a testament to Wegner's visionary approach.

It takes a skilled craftsman 10 hours and approximately 400 meters of paper cord to complete a seat and backrest by hand, using a particular weaving-like technique, which is visible on both sides of the backrest. The amazing result of this demanding process is an exceptional chair that fascinates from every angle.

You can find CH25 in oiled oak, lacquered, soaped, and oiled walnut.

CH25 is made to order, and the estimated delivery time is 4 to 8 weeks.
