KK47000 SAFARI CHAIR

KK47000 SAFARI CHAIR

The Safari chair KK47000 is an iconic example of Kaare Klint's design ideology. Klint effortlessly transformed a historical archetype into a modern folding chair. Its thoughtful design is a hallmark of sophistication and pure craftsmanship for contemporary interiors.

Kaare Klint's Safari Chair KK47000 is a refinement of the chairs taken on safari in Africa by an American film director and his wife. Klint noticed them in photos of the couple.

The original featured glueless joints, tool-free assembly, and a clever construction that caused the joints to tighten when the chair was occupied, increasing its strength and stability.

Klint focused on simplifying, clarifying, and refining the chair's composition and presented his final design in 1933 at the Copenhagen Cabinetmakers' Guild Exhibition.

Although inspired by its British predecessor, Klint's sophisticated, lightweight chair is defined by its characteristic systematic approach, fine craftsmanship, well-conceived proportions, and remarkable material effects.

KK47000 is made to order by hand in Denmark, and the estimated lead time is 10-12 weeks.
