Poul Kjærholm was one of the leading architects of Danish modernism. With his functionalist approach to furniture design, Kjærholm cultivated simplicity and lightness. In addition, as a designer, he excelled in combining his favorite material, steel, with other organic materials. Both qualities are perfectly reflected in the PK1 dining chair.

Originally made of wicker, the PK1 is now available in an updated version with an FSC-certified woven paper rope seat, which looks equally beautiful from the front and back. The weaving technique has been recreated by Carl Hansen & Søn according to the original Kjærholm chair design; it takes a skilled craftsman 15 hours to weave the seat by hand. 

The combination of industrial steel and paper cord weave radiates lightness and elegance; PK1 is now considered a design icon because it perfectly balances aesthetics, comfort, and stability.

You can find PK1 with its frame in lacquered steel or stainless steel.

PK1 is handmade to order in Denmark, and the estimated delivery time is 3 to 6 weeks.
