Vilhelm Lauritzen was a pioneer of Danish modernism and known as the master of detail. With his functionalist approach, he insisted that form should complement function.

This is especially evident in the poetic VLA61 Monarch Chair, exemplified by the double-curved armrests, organic frame design, and elegant brass legs. In addition, the VLA61 Monarch Chair is so comfortable that sitting in it is like a hug.

Lauritzen's keen interest in butterflies is reflected in the name of the VLA61 Monarch chair, inspired by the majestic monarch butterfly. 

In collaboration with Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects, the chair has been reborn with a contemporary perspective in both material composition and detailing, and each chair is the product of hours of passionate craftsmanship.

All pieces are hand polished several times, and the top rail is only upholstered when the chair is assembled for a perfect finish. All of these subtleties contribute to the sculptural expression of Lauritzen's recreated masterpiece.
