The Crate collection was originally designed in 1934 by the Dutch architect and designer Gerrit Rietveld to make use of surplus wooden shipping crates. Today it is being relaunched as part of a Rietveld Originals x HAY collaboration, respecting the original design and maintaining its transparent construction and rational approach, whilst optimising the assembly process and preserving its architectural simplicity.
