The Maija floor lamp by Santa & Cole, designed in 1955 by the renowned Finnish designer Ilmari Tapiovaara, brings the atmospheric lighting of the Baltic cities to an elegant floor-standing design.

Tapiovaara conceived this structure as a tower of overlapping matt white metal discs through which light filters outwards as if emerging from a shimmering honeycomb. Resting on slender matt brass legs and fitted with a translucent methacrylate diffuser, the piece radiates an enveloping, warm and glare-free glow.

This design combines the sculptural character of mid-century Nordic design with ambient lighting ideal for living areas, reading nooks or lounges.
