GUBI’s Obello epitomises American space-age design at its finest, and its silhouette perfectly captures the futurism and optimism characteristic of the era.

Designed by Bill Curry in 1971, the lamp is reminiscent of a mushroom and is crafted from a single piece of hand-blown glass, lending it a sculptural presence and a soft glow, ideal for creating atmosphere on bedside tables, shelves or side tables.

Obello features two integrated LED bulbs with different intensities: a brighter one directing light towards the shade and a softer one directed towards the base, creating a warm and balanced glow.

Although conceived in the 1970s, it was not produced until decades later. Bill Curry passed away before seeing the project completed and was not even able to name his prototype; therefore, in collaboration with the Curry family, GUBI is launching a cordless version that pays homage to the original design and its futuristic vision.
