HELMUT NEWTON & ALICE SPRINGS. US AND THEM

HELMUT NEWTON & ALICE SPRINGS. US AND THEM

In 1998, Helmut and June Newton published their legendary joint project Us and Them in book form and also in accompanying exhibitions. The first part of Us and Them, an incomparable story of fifty-five years of coexistence and love, offers us a glimpse into the private lives of the photographers.

It is a kind of photographic diary that documents the life that Helmut and June Newton shared through the snapshots they took of each other. There are also photographs of actors, artists and important cultural figures of the time, such as Brassaï and Peter Beard, Yves Saint Laurent and Thierry Mugler or Jane Birkin and Charlotte Rampling. The portraits that Helmut and June Newton took at different times are presented in pairs and reveal two facets of the same personality. This publication thus closes different circles, because the life and work of Helmut and June Newton were linked in several ways. One was not possible without the other, and vice versa.

Hard cover.

Texts in German, French, English.

Taschen
