The Crate Lounge Sofa by HAY is an outdoor lounge sofa with low proportions and a lightweight construction, designed to create a comfortable relaxation area without overwhelming the space.

Its gently sloping backrest and seat, combined with supportive armrests, provide a relaxed seating position ideal for terraces, gardens and patios.

Made from solid pine and finished with water-based lacquer, it is available in a range of colours and can be complemented with optional seat cushions in selected fabrics for added comfort. Perfect for pairing with low tables to complete an outdoor lounge set.

The Crate collection was originally designed in 1934 by Dutch architect and designer Gerrit Rietveld to make use of surplus wooden shipping crates. Today it is being relaunched as part of a Rietveld Originals x HAY collaboration, respecting the original design and maintaining its transparent construction and rational approach, whilst optimising the assembly process and preserving its architectural simplicity.
