The Gira desk lamp and task light by Santa & Cole is a landmark in the history of task lighting within Barcelona’s design heritage, conceived in 1978 by J.M. Massana, J.M. Tremoleda and Mariano Ferrer.

The piece encapsulates the fundamental elements of any light fitting in a geometry of absolute simplicity: a square base, a linear arm and a conical shade. Conceived as a reinterpretation of the traditional desk lamp, its distinctive value lies in its extraordinary functionality and ingenious range of movement.

The chrome-plated metal arm rotates from the base via a high-precision ball joint, whilst the conical shade is directed straight towards the bulb to focus the light exactly where it is needed. A timeless, understated and versatile classic that creates an intimate relationship between the user, the light and their workspace or reading area.
