Designed in 1985 by Gabriel Ordeig Cole and Nina Masó — co-founders of Santa & Cole — ‘La Bella Durmiente’ is a totemic form that pays homage to geometric abstraction and the expressiveness of colour, evoking the compositions of Piet Mondrian or Theo van Doesburg.

Created against the grain in an era dominated by cold halogen lights, this piece embraced chromatic warmth through a refined interplay of contrasts between warm and cool tones, establishing itself as a light sculpture halfway between figuration and contemplation.

Its shade is crafted from cardstock with high-precision Giclée printing and protected by a transparent laminate that shields it from moisture and the effects of time.

Two staggered black-lacquered wooden caps close and frame the structure via an upper screw thread. Inside, an aluminium frame with a methacrylate tube houses an efficient warm-light LED module. This reissue faithfully retains the original dimensions and adds adjustable feet to the base for perfect levelling on uneven floors.

It is available in two sizes (Sleeping Beauty and Little Sleeping Beauty).
