Designed in 1997 by Antoni Arola for Santa & Cole, Nimba was the designer’s first lamp and emerged as one of the earliest luminous halos in contemporary design.

Its name pays homage to the halo or nimbus found in sacred images — that which is sensed and seen, but cannot be touched — creating an ethereal and incorporeal presence.

Comprising a floating metal profile with an L-shaped cross-section and an inner PVC shade that diffuses the light towards the centre, Nimba represented a highly innovative concept in its day by shading the light from the inside out.

The result is diffused, warm and highly efficient lighting that creates spiritual and serene atmospheres, making it ideal both for passageways and for anchoring meeting spaces, dining rooms or atriums.

This product sheet covers all four sizes in the collection (Nimba 60, 90, 120 and 180), allowing it to be adapted for everything from domestic-scale rooms to large-scale architectural projects.
