The Louis Poulsen PH 2/1 Portable brings Poul Henningsen’s iconic three-shade system into a cordless format, whilst retaining the same ambition to create glare-free light, direct illumination where it is most needed and cast subtle shadows.

Henningsen’s mathematical approach, based on the logarithmic spiral, led to the development of the three-shade system in 1925–1926 and an extensive family of luminaires which, over time, has encompassed hundreds of models in various types.

This portable version is based on the classic small table lamp and uses blown opal glass shades that diffuse the light in a soft and comfortable manner. The stem and base are made of high-gloss chrome or metallic brass, providing an elegant contrast to the glass. Thanks to its cordless operation, it is ideal for use both indoors and outdoors, especially in places without easy access to the mains supply, such as a bookshelf, a bedside table or a reading nook.
