Metro Lamps is a lighting collection by valerie_objects created as a tribute to the Milan Metro and one of its most iconic features: the red handrail.

In 2017, the Milan-Brussels-based architecture studio Piovenefabi presented a floor lamp inspired by this handrail at a much-talked-about exhibition at the Chicago Architecture Biennial, and building on that gallery piece, the firm has transformed the idea into a complete family of lamps with playful variations.

The collection builds on the original floor lamp, designed in the signature red, and expands the palette with three additional colours that evoke the colour scheme of the Milan metro.

Furthermore, Piovenefabi deconstructs the original form into its basic elements and reassembles them into new types, creating different versions of table lamps, a pendant lamp and a wall lamp. The result is a series with a graphic and urban aesthetic, with a sculptural touch, designed to add character to both homes and interior design projects.
