The legendary French designer Pierre Paulin originally conceived the Pacha armchair in 1975, in keeping with the new trends of the time, replacing post-war austerity with a fresh, avant-garde and welcoming approach. Paulin succeeded in bringing a refined elegance to its bold, rounded forms by finding the perfect proportions, subtly raising it above its base and defining the foam and upholstery with seams sloping inwards. Through pieces such as the Pacha armchair, Pierre Paulin pioneered the concept of low-level living: a modern way of inhabiting space closer to the floor by dispensing with traditional legs.

With absolute comfort as the undisputed starting point, the piece’s curved, organic and sculpted forms are designed to cradle the body. The version on offer features the exclusive Dora Bouclé fabric upholstery, with a rich and enveloping texture, combined with an elegant swivel base in a Pearl Gold finish – an iconic piece reissued by GUBI.
